The experience was so positive for our family that we chose to continue homeschooling our children for several years.

Our days followed a rhythm shaped largely by the Charlotte Mason approach, drawing from a variety of curricula while leaving room for curiosity and exploration. We spent a great deal of time reading, journaling, and learning through observation. Travel also became an important part of our homeschooling years. Wherever we went, we adapted our studies to where we were — sketching, keeping notebooks, and letting the places we visited shape what we were learning.

Art was woven naturally into that process. Sometimes it meant careful observational drawings connected to science lessons. Other times it meant illustrated history timelines, sketchbooks from nature walks, or long afternoons spent building and experimenting with materials.

Those years continue to influence how I teach today. As both a professional artist and certified art educator who has homeschooled her own children, I understand the balance many families look for between structure, curiosity, and independent exploration. I especially enjoy creating art lessons that connect with other areas of study and am always happy to design projects that reinforce themes families may already be exploring in science, history, or literature, whether for individual students, families, or homeschool groups.
