Book some quality time for your child (between the ages of 1-5) and yourself to get creative. Get a group of friends and their kids together and come play at the studio, a comfortable space that has no problem getting messy. Come play, make art, and a mess and then leave the mess but take the art!

We will spend the 50 minutes exploring new materials and ideas through play and art making. Our studio-play time may include experiences at the project table, art making stations, sensory table and easels all while developing fine motor skills with 2-D and 3-D art materials.

Expect you and your children to explore a variety of sensory experiences and participate in a great number of process centered art making. This class will focus on the experience and exploration of art making, rather than the end product. Remember to dress to get messy (maybe very messy). Also, as the weather allows we might venture outside as well.

A caregiver must attend with each child
No minimum number of makers due to the flat fee,

Brush Lettering Private Lessons
$15 a student (Minimum 6 Maximum of 12)

Session 1: Basics of the Brush Stroke
Using Crayola regular and supertip markers students will become accustomed to the correct pen grip and pressure to create the distinguished brush stroke look.  We will complete a series of exercises to practice the pen grip as well as brush stokes before completing a few occasion cards, gift bags, and tags.

Session 2: Transferring the grip to a brush tip pen
Using Tombow Fudenosuke brush pens (hard and soft tip) students will be introduced to the traditional brush lettering practice by starting a series of exercises in a bound workbook.   Students will then make a small watercolor background to be used the following week before making a 8x10 brush lettered artwork.  Students will take workbook home and hopefully have time to practice for next week.

Session 3: Transferring the grip to a brush tip pen
Using a variety of brush pens (participants Tombow Fude pens, Pentel sign pens, and colored Tombow brush pens).  We will review problem letters, bounce lettering, and spacing.  Students will make a desk calendar, complete a small quote of their choosing, and make place cards.

Session 4: Watercolor and Brush Lettering
Introduction to the Pentel Arts Aquash Water Brush.  We will use it with sumi ink and watercolors to create a variety of effects, solid black to rainbow letters. Basic watercolor techniques will also be talked about if time allows.  The focus will be on working on a larger scale lettered works.
