A variety of small workshops that will teach a craft and skill and will result in a product that your child is proud to show off and share. (Images of projects to the right)
Please dress to be outside and to probably get messy Small group instruction (min. 4, maximum 8) Get a few friends together and sign up together! Includes all supplies. Students will take final product home with them that day in most instances. In a few cases if things are still drying they will be available for pickup within the week. $30 session NOTE: Registration must take place at least 48 hours in advance
Tuesday, June 13th 1:00-3:00 Fairy Garden ages 7-12 Make a set of fairies for before designing a small garden for the real thing. We will be making a small set of wooden fairy dolls and designing a fairy house from recycled materials and then planting a small garden with a succulent or air plant. Garden measures about 9 inches across.
Tuesday, June 20th 1:00-3:00 Mosaic Sun Dial ages 7-12 Come learn about molds and mosaics and a bit about sundials. Kids will help mix and pour cement molds before placing mosaic tiles, stamping numbers, and setting the dial to create a working sun dial for their garden. FYI: stepping stones will need time to set, pick up will be a few days later.
Tuesday, June 27th 1:00-3:00 Modern DreamCatcher ages 9-12 Learn about fibers, weaving, and Native American Dreamcatchers as we work on a 6 inch ring, combining, fibers, feathers, and embellishments to create a modern mobile hanging.
Tuesday, July 11th 1:00-3:00 Modern Planter ages 7-12 Use acrylics on wood to create a modern vessel. We will learn all about winning color combinations, color theory and tips and tricks on how to paint straight lines. We will also learn how to make tassels and pom noms before planting an airplane in our new planter. 3:30-5:15 Modern DreamCatcher ages 9-12 Learn about fibers, weaving, and Native American Dreamcatchers as we work on a 6 inch ring, combining, fibers, feathers, and embellishments to create a modern mobile hanging.
Thursday, August 10th 12:00-2:00 Paper Making and Paper Marbling ages 7-10 2:30-4:30 Paper Making and Paper Marbling ages 9-12 Try your hand at making paper from recycled materials and natural plant material. We will experiment with making a variety of papers and then turn our attention to the ancient art of paper marbling. Basic color theory, and composition will be discussed throughout the session.
Thursday, August 17th 2:30-4:30 MatisseGoldfish Canvas Painting ages 7-12 Learn about Matisse and his painting of the well known fishbowl. After learning about the magic of ellipses we will use acrylic paint on a 12x12 canvas.
