I'm home sick today with my daughter. Last night I had the thought (after the vomiting had slowed and people were tightly tucked in) of what am I going to leave behind for sub plans? I always struggle with what to leave behind for my students. I used to go in early, no matter how sick I was, pajamas and all type up what we left off doing and organize supplies - only to come in when I was better to seeing projects ruined 90 percent of the time. I've had to change my ways; due to that old way not working, being at multiple schools in one day, and having a little one at home. Another teacher shared her SUB TUB idea with me awhile back and I have happily adopted the idea.
I have a crate filled with manilla envelopes that are labeled with a detailed easy to follow sub lesson plan. Inside the envelope are any supplies that wouldn't already be out. I have them arranged by grade level with instructions to choose one and mark it off on a master sheet (that way they are not repeated). I also always leave behind an ART EVERYTHING BINDER. Inside the binder are detailed instructions of how I start and end classes, my basic philosophy on teaching art, information in case of an emergency, and special things that might need to know about certain classes or students.
I am constantly adding to my SUB TUB. I stumbled upon these images on pinterest and thought they would one day be included into a project for my SUB TUB.
Please Excuse the Mess
I'm slowly transferring blog posts from my previous website thebeeskneescousin.com It's taking a considerable amount of time to sort through things. Thanks for your patience.
